The  6ES7972-0BB12-0XA0​ is a PROFIBUS DP / MPI RS485 bus connector (sub-D 9-pin)​ used to terminate and interconnect nodes in a  SIMATIC S7, S5, or ET 200 distributed I/O network. It features a 90° (right-angle) cable outlet, integrated PG/PC diagnostic port (AUX)​ for online monitoring without disconnecting the bus, and screw terminals for quick cable shield/drain wire termination. This is the standard bus connector for PROFIBUS segments running at up to 12 Mbit/s.

Note: For the 35° cable outlet​ version (more common in deep cabinets), see 6ES7972-0BA12-0XA0​ (no PG port) or 6ES7972-0BB41-0XA0​ (35° with PG port — newer FastConnect design). Bus termination​ is applied at the two end nodes using either a built-in DIP switch (on -0BA50/-0BB50 variants) or a 6ES7972-0BA50-0XA0 terminator plug​ on the last connector's AUX port.
