Function & Application

The shunt trip is an electrically operated release. When its coil is energized from an external control circuit (e.g., by an emergency stop button, fire alarm contact, or PLC output), it instantaneously activates the breaker's mechanical trip unit, causing the main contacts to open and disconnect the power.

Critical Installation Note

This device must be used in conjunction with a normally-open control contact (e.g., from a pushbutton or relay). It is designed for momentary energization only. A separate undervoltage release (UVR) is required for protection against loss of voltage.
